BRAZIL : A Faithful Response. 1997  (26 Min.) Resource video for the Education for Mission study on Brazil looks at issues of equality, the welfare of children, and spirituality in contemporary Brazil.  Involvement of three Protestant denominations (Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian) is highlighted in work among street children.  Brazil is 6th largest country in the world, with many people of active faith, large cities, much poverty, and many issues confronting it. CUBA: Three Faith Perspectives, 1998 (29 Min)  Produced by Rod Booth and the Berkeley Studio (United Church of Canada). This colorful and intriguing video shows in dramatic interviews how three Cuban Christians practice their faith in the wake of the Cuban revolution. Ysel Pérez is a Methodist laywoman who remained in Cuba after Castro came to power. The Rev. Carlos Ham-Stanard, only two when the revolution began, is secretary of the Presbyterian Reformed Church in Cuba. The Rev. Tony Ramos is now a Baptist professor in Miami. Their stories lay to rest many myths and raise significant questions for Christians in North America to ponder. A study guide is included. [Friendship Press]

WTO - The Whole World In Whose Hands? 2000 (29 Min)  (World Trade Organization)  Video discusses issues of this group of 134 member nations joined together to cut tariffs and remove barriers to free trade, while not dealing with environmental issues or labor issues.  Even the poorest nations are not involved with WTO.  Issues involved also include slavery in Burma and elsewhere; agribusiness and genetically altered foods; and subsistence farming.  Major issues of human rights and dignity. Includes packet of materials on WTO.   [GBGM] .

Mission

To Russia with God's Love 1992 (60 Min) After the fall of Communism, many people were out of work and there was a scarcity of food while there was a surge of spiritual growth.  The Methodist churches have worked as Ecumenical partners with other churches in Russia.  Although the Russian Orthodox church is the majority church, it did not have enough resources to handle all humanitarian aide needed.  UMCOR became the lead agency for the Ecumenical group to dispense humanitarian aide.  Russian faith communities used lists of poor people (primarily elderly, single parents & children, unemployed)  to give UMCOR for dispensing aide.  Methodist churches in North America planned to make packages for shipping to Russia for the Russia Project. [Promotional video for Russia Project]
