A Message from our Spiritual Growth Coordinator
WHAT A WONDERFUL PRAYER RESOURCE!
The 2008 Prayer Calendar has a new look!
It’s filled with colorful glossy photos that
reflect the vibrancy of United Methodist Women and the UMC General Board of Global Ministries
in the world. Each week, we get a mission story - a beautiful photograph of one of our mission
projects, a missionary reflection, birthday listing of mission personnel, daily focus on a mission
program, and lectionary scripture readings.
The Prayer Calendar is a part of my daily walk with Jesus. I pray for our mission projects
and missionaries, and read the daily scriptures. The pairing of Old and New Testament
readings gives me spiritual food for thought, as they relate in theme or message. There’s
space each day to write down joys, concerns and scripture comments. I enjoy selecting missionaries for birthday and
holiday greetings, as this makes me think about what they do, where they live, and the personal sacrifices they have
made to serve the “least of these.”
Are you using your Prayer Calendar every
day? Do you have one? It’s never too late to add
this resource to your spiritual life. You can pick
one up at your next district or conference event or
order one from Mission resource Center,
1-800-305-9857.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am
with you always, to the end of the age!” Matthew 28:18-20
Your prayers move God to change the world. You may not
understand the mystery of prayer. You don’t need to. But
this much is clear: Actions in heaven begin when someone
prays on earth. What an amazing thought!”
