Gulf Central District Faith in Action
|
| Welcome! A message from Gulf Central District President: Ellie Myers The Gulf Central District
is getting off to a great start this
year. About 150 ladies attended
our officers' training at St. Paul’s
UMC. The reports I heard were
all good and if you missed the
skit performed by Leslie Goodell,
you really missed something.
She did a great job and thank
you Leslie for sharing it with us.
We also can’t thank St. Paul’s UMW
enough for offering to host this event each year.
It is a perfect place, close to the center of our district,
with many class rooms and a large gathering
room. The continental breakfast was very good.
Thank you to all the ladies who worked so hard to
make it a successful event. We hope everyone
learned some things which will help them work
effectively with the mission team in their local unit.
I hear there are several good Mission Studies planned or already given. Try to attend at least one. I went to one on Feb. 5, and not only was it a good time to meet other people, but to get some new and good ideas as well. The other ladies from our unit who attended were really impressed, as it was very inspiring. I am sure we will be using some new music at our meetings - songs from other parts of the country and the world. Consider having a mission study at your church. We cannot all do a Day Apart or an Annual Meeting, but most churches can do a mission study. We hope you have had the opportunity to meet some of the District Officers. I think we have a wonderful Mission Team! Don’t forget to ask them to some of your meetings, especially your “loving links.” We want to meet you and would be willing to install officers, give a program, or just be a guest. I know you are all very busy and calendars
fill up fast, but don’t forget to save some time in July for the School of Christian Mission - either the
22nd through the 25th for the weekday or the 25th
through the 27th for the weekend. There will be
more about this in the next issue of GulfViews.
