Symbols are found in all of our daily activities. When we shake hands, nod, wave, smile to someone, and when we send greeting cards, flowers, or gifts, we are using symbols of friendship to enhance our warm feelings towards others. In the same manner, we decorate the Lord's House with Symbols to enhance our worship. This page will give meaning to the symbols in the beautiful stained glass window of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. The window was designed by Mr. Douglas Phillips, an artist and director of Phillips Stained Glass Company. In his design, Mr. Phillips wanted to enhance the original center section of "Christ Knocking at the Door" and he felt that the window should relate to, but not compete with the center figure, therefore symbols and abstract pattern were chosen rather than creating a more involved design. The window was dedicated in October 1969.
