 is a fellowship of women
meeting on a Saturday morning five times per year
for mission, outreach, study and fellowship.

    

 

 

Celebrate Spring with United Methodist Women

  Monday, April 7: Trip to Mission Central, Mechanicsburg
     meet at the church at 11:00 to carpool and return at 5:00

  Saturday, April 12: Northwest District Meeting of UMW
     here at Good Shepherd
     9:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m.
     Theme: God's Mission: God's Song
  Lunch and Pre meeting refreshments

 Friday, May 2: Church Women United May Fellowship Day
     at Trinity UMC
     Theme: Plant a Seed of Hospitality: Reap Bouquets of Friendships

Saturday, May 17: Mother-Child gathering from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Our Purpose:
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose Purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the Global ministries of the Church.

What it means to be a United Methodist Women

  • being a part of the largest lay women's organization of a major Protestant denomination in the USA, almost 1,000,000 strong!
  • contributing to an annual national budget of almost $20,000,000 for mission, national and international!
  • the opportunity to join in inspirational events, bringing Christian women together for worship, sharing and action!
  • increasing one's understanding of mission, social justice and personal commitment through the magazines "Response" and "New World Outlook" the Reading Program and the annual School of Christian Mission!
  • Fellowship, service, training for leadership "Faith in Action"!

What it means to be a United Methodist Women at Good Shepherd

  • joining other women from our congregation to worship and learn more about mission: local, national and international!
  • participating in district, conference and national gatherings to celebrate, learn and plan for action!
  • an annual local budget of over $1500 sent directly to the Women's Division as part of the $20,000,000 raised nationally!
  • supporting local projects through our Lasagna Dinner or Silent Auction: such as the Lebanon Latino Church, the Gretna Glen Camping Ministry and Lebanon County Christian Ministries, as well as local church work such as COGS in Motion and the Workshop Rotation Model Sunday School Program!
  • preparing medicine boxes, school kits or health kits as well as 100 stockings for residents of area health care facilities!
  • traveling to New Windsor, Maryland to work at SERVV headquarters preparing items to be sold in their third-world gift shop!
  • and of course it means food and fellowship: breakfast or lunch, simple Lenten fare or the spread of a covered dish meal!

How do I become a member of United Methodist Women?
     Simply commit yourself to support the organization by one or more of the following:

  • prayers
  • financial support
  • participate in the Reading Program
  • attend the gatherings
  • or participate in the projects of the unit
