Life is…

a poem by Rev. Ken Baker

(A reflection on The Book of Ecclesiastes and

The Myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus)

Life is absurd,

Apart from the word.

It’s meaningless, formless,

 and lonesome.

Man thinks he is wise,

As he soars past the skies,

And probes the dark depths

Of the ocean.

But his curious quest,

Is flirtatious at best

For he searches for truths,

Out of sight.

As he strives with the best,

He fails his long quest

his torch finally burns out –

No more light .

Yet the answer is near,

Now he harkens his ear,

To a call always there, yet unheard.

It’s the sound of God’s grace

Sometimes faint, now ablaze.

The truth is the sound of Gods Word.

The mans life starts to mend,

His quest nears the end

As he changes his heart and behavior.

He learns from his new friend,

That there’s  hope once again,

But a part from Him there’s no savior.
