Here is a sampling of some of the work that our missions program has done recently:
NYC World Trade Center Relief
Over forty members of our congregation volunteered in 2002 by staying overnight at St. Paul's chapel to cook meals and distribute supplies to the WTC relief workers at the fallen Twin Towers. During one of our visits to St. Paul's, the Lord gave us a sign to that our congregation was on the right path. Amongst a stack of posters from schools around the world and the nation, we found a poster from our local Brunswick School, right here in Greenwich.
Midnight Run
For the past several years, we have participated in the Midnight Run missions program. We generally make four such runs per year. This is our largest local outreach program. Volunteers of all ages are needed in one way or another for food shopping, picking up the van, loading the van or actually going on a run itself. We have served thousands of meals and closed hundreds of homeless persons since we began this outreach. Due to the overwhelming response to this mission, we are always looking for supplies and volunteers.
 Volunteers in Mission
Our team at Volunteers in Mission has recently returned from Costa Rica. Our church not only donated manual labor for ten days, we also donated construction funds for this project. We built a Sunday School in the Methodist parish of Buenos Aires, Costa Rica. This location is about 3 1/2 hours south of the capitol city of San Jose. Our next V.I.M. trip is scheduled for Scott's Run, West Virginia, from July 25 - July 31.
Rebuilding Together
We have been participating in this outreach program for several years. In 2004, a dozen volunteers assisted an elderly couple by refurbishing their house in Stamford. The home owners sincerely thank all these God sent angels.
Ongoing Food Collection
Donations of imperishables go to a local food pantry throughout the year to feed hundreds of our needy neighbors.
Literacy Volunteers of America
David Lentz and George Stockbridge originally founded our Literacy Volunteers Program. This is an ongoing book drive to help supply local health clinics with children's books. Donations and volunteers are always needed.
Eyeglass Collections
Alice Connolly and Gladys Lockwood collect our eyeglasses and prepare them for donation to the needy.
