Eagles Nest Ministries

A collection box for used Sunday School quarterlies, Bibles, daily devotionals, any Christian books, paperbacks, cassettes, reference books, commentaires, and videos is in the narthex.  The materials are for Eagles Nest Ministries in Butler.  Through their "Love Packages" ministry our usable Christian literature is sent to missionaries and Christian workers around the world.  Thanks for your help!

Compassion Child
Anyone interested in sponsoring a Compassion Child please check in with Pam Chase.  The cost is approximately $32 per month until the child is 18 years old.

Also if anyone would like to donate snacks for our children or youth programs, it would be a big help to the budget.  Soda, cookies, juice boxes, Kool-Aid, chips, candy bars, cheese and crackers and, of course, any baked items would be greatly appreciated.  Contact Pam if you would like to contribute.

NEEDED
New volunteer Webmaster to update and maintain our website.  If you're interested, please contact the pastor or the current webmaster.


Our new automated Phone Tree is now installed.  It will enable us to make information available to you regarding meetings, the prayer chain, announcements, church information and any contact we need with our church family to keep you in touch.

College Intern Starting Soon!  Dan Shanks will be our college intern from the Conference Internship Program.  June 1st will be his first day.  He will help in various ways in our congregation, so that he can experience ministry within the church setting at a deeper level.  Dan will work with the summer youth program, but will also make calls at the hospital and other forms of ministry.

Christian Resources Available
There is a book, CD, and DVD stand in the foyer.  There are devotionals to help stay on track this summer and other spiritual help resources for family and individuals.  Prices are listed on an envelope, which can be turned in to the office or placed in the collection place.  Prices are $2.50 and up.

Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House in East St. Louis is celebrating 100 years of ministry this year.  One of their activities to help celebrate their anniversary is "100 Acts of Kindness for 100 Years."  To honor Neighborhood House's 100 years of service, our church will collect 100 toothbrushes and 100 tubes of toothpaste.  The brushes and toothpaste will be collected through Easter, April 12th.  A container will be at the display in the narthex.  The donations will be delivered on Tuesday, April 18th, followed by a tour of the facilities.  Everyone is welcome to come along.  Watch for more details and a sign-up sheet.

CANS
The youth are again collecting aluminum cans for recycling to raise money for this summer's Mission Trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  You may leave your cans in a plastic bag in the big trash can in Pam's office.  We will also gratefully accept cash donations for gas and other expenses.

Gutters need cleaning, light bulbs need changing, bushes need trimming, yard work?  Call Helping Hands!  We are here to help you!   Please call 664-2481 or 664-0915 for any household chores.  Give us a call . . . We do it all!

We need volunteers who are willing to pick up and return people for Sunday morning services.  We no longer run the van and there are some individuals who would appreciate a ride to and/or from our services.  Please call the church office if you can help!

The Food Pantry at the Bond County Senior Center is always in need of food.  If you can help, please take the following items to the Senior Center: peanut butter & jelly, soup, canned fruit, cereal, instant potatoes, instant pudding, canned meals such as Spaghettios, beef stew, etc., spaghetti and sauce, tuna, canned vegetables, macaroni and cheese, crackers, and Jello.

1.    Tents needed!!  If you have a tent the youth could use on their trip on June 10th, pelase contact the church office or talk to Pastor Shalom.

2. Diamond Days are coming!!  Interested in playing church league softball?  Let the church office know as soon as possible.

3.  Sunday, June 14th at the 8;30 and 10:30 services -- Nashville Recording Artist, Darla McFadden, a Christian music artist from Lake St. Louis, MO, will be appearing at our church.  Darla will be singing songs both old and new that will bless and encourage your heart.  Make plans to bring a frined and attend this special gospel music event!

We are trying to update our church history.  The last written records go only into the 1950s.  What we need most are accounts from past youth events (especially the trip to Washington, D.C.), Women's Society, Sunday School classes, individual church-related achievements, and other interesting memories.
