Greenville Music

The Chancel Choir, under the direction of Julie Carney, is for adults. They rehearse every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Wed. at 7:30 p.m. from September to June.

The Youth Choir, under the direction of Julie Carney, is for seventh through twelfth grades. This group meets every Sunday evening. The group consists of young people who were in the Epworth Choir previously.

The Epworth Choir consists of 20 youngsters from third grade through sixth grade, under the direction of Julianne Carney.

The Cherub Choir under the direction of Jane Scrafford is for three year olds through second grade. They meet every Sunday and sing periodically in church.

Hymn History

"I Surrender All"

"I Surrender All" was written while Judson Wheller Van De Venter was conducting a meeting. In his own words, "For some time, I had struggled between developing my talents in the field of art education and going into full-time evangelistic work. At last the pivotal hour of my life came, and I surrendered all. a new day was ushered into my life. I became an evangelist and discovered down deep in my soul a talent hitherto unknown to me. God had hidden a song in my heart, and touching a tender chord, He caused me to sing."

He subsequently authored at least six hymns and taught Hymnody at the Florida Bible Institute. One now famous student at the Florida Bible Institute was greatly influenced by this hymnist and evangelist. The student was Billy Graham.
