As United Methodists we are committed to working to improve the quality of life for men, women, and children throughout the world.  Opportunities abound.  Here are a few of the areas in which we are involved within our local church.

  

Community Meals

 Description:  an ecumenical program providing weekly hot meal for the hungry and homeless.  The third Wednesday of every month, the meal is cooked in the Methodist kitchen and brought to Second Congregational church for serving.

           Time and Place:  5PM Methodist Church
                                         6PM Second Congregational Church

Crop Walk
 Description:  Each year members participate in this event, gathering pledges and enjoying the country-side walk.

A planning and organizational meeting will take place at the First Congregational Church in Greenfield on September 12th.  Twenty-five percent of the proceeds of this walk benefit Franklin County food assistance programs.

Relay for Life          

 Description:  a team of Methodists joined with the community in this fundraising event for the American Cancer Society.  Tribute is paid to cancer survivors.

This year we walked in memory of Sylvia Tetreault,  who lost her battle with cancer this spring.

 Rural Mission South Carolina         

 Description:  Annually a team travels to South Carolina to work to save homes for the poor.

           Time and Place:   March 10 - March 18

  Roast Pork Dinner

 Description: This is a public dinner offering 3 courses.  You will get a salad, then pork, potato and vegetable, ending with dessert.   Cost of the meal: $10.00

           Time and Place:  Monthly 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall
