The Scott's
Pastor Jim, Joan, John and James
The Reverand James A. Scott, known to his church family as Pastor Jim, is a transplant to Ohio from Silver Spring, Maryland. While growing up, he was active in Scouting and at the Southern Baptist congregation his family attended. He served in the United States Air Force. While having a good knowledge about Jesus Christ from years in Sunday School, it was during a 1970 sermon at the Blacksburg United Methodist church that the Holy Spirit got through to the then VT student that the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was for him. He's a graduate of Virginia Tech and Wesley Theological Seminary. Ordained in Maryland where he served two pastorates, he transferred to the East Ohio Conference in 1978. Pastor Jim, Joan (an R.N. from Beach City, Ohio) and his two sons, John and James, moved to Green Springs in July, 1996.
During the warmer parts of the year, you'll find pastor getting to his church responsibilities or simply relaxing on his 1990 Harley--a modified FLTC. They are members of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, American Motorcyclists Association, ABATE of Ohio, HOG, and the Circuit Riders MCC. At other times they look to antiquing, visiting historical places, fishing, and deer hunting as hobbies. His fondest joy in the ordained ministry is sharing the love of Jesus Christ through worship, music, and visitation with folks in their homes, at Promise Keepers, or "wherever".
