![]() Welcome to the Grant Ave UMC website History of Colorado's Historic Grant Avenue ChurchOn November 7, 1890, Rev. Oscar Louis Fisher and a group of faithful friends embarked on the establishment a Methodist church in the sparsely settled area known as South Denver. Originally, the congregation held services in a tent located on South Sherman and Maple Street. After 18 years of growth and planning, on January 12, 1908, Opening Services were held at the newly constructed Grant Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church, located at 216 South Grant. This historic 30,000-square-foot facility includes a beautiful Sanctuary with the capacity to seat 350 people. It also includes an adjoining Community Center consisting of three stories and a basement.

![]() The Bright Field I have seen the sun break through to illuminate a small field for a while, and gone my way and forgotten it. But that was the pearl of great price, the one field that had treasure in it. I realize now that I must give all that I have to possess it. Life is not hurrying on to a receeding future, nor hankering after an imagined past. It is turning aside like Moses to the miracle of the lit bush, to a brightness that seemed as transitory as your youth once, but it is the eternity that awaits you. ... R.S. Thomas ![]()
