How To Know God

You can know God!   What an outlandish idea.  Which God?  While there may be as many virtual "gods" as there are human imaginations, there is only one creator and sustainer of the universe who is a holy, just, loving Spirit.  He is also the only One who has revealed Himself to humanity, rather than being the product of our mental projections and imaginations.
 

THE GOD WHO REVEALS HIMSELF

All the religious systems of the world cannot show us the true nature of a holy creator.  But in the person of Jesus Christ, God walking around in our kind of skin, we can begin to know what He is like.  This only works if He first takes the initiative.  He did! In Jesus.
 

THE GREAT NEWS

Not only has the creator done this, but incredibly, He did it at great cost to Himself, for us!   He seeks a loving relationship with us.  He seeks us out.  We can know Him through expressing faith in what He has done in Jesus Christ.
 

HOW TO START

The first step in knowing God is to recognize the we are "short-circuited" in the moral department.  As the Bible says it in Romans 3:23, "all have sinned AND fall short of the glory of God."

Two things: 1) We have done things the wrong way, and we think the wrong way.  That is, not God's way.  This wrong-headedness alienates us from Him.  It is called sin, and He won't accept it.  But He can forgive and clean it up!   2) We have a "nature" problem.  It's not just doing the wrong stuff, but being the wrong person; a kind of wrong-heartedness.  We don't measure up to God's standard.

Still with me?  If you can agree with God's assessment of you, and want to get straight, He will meet you half-way.
 

DO-IT-YOURSELF?

About now you might be thinking, "I can straighten this out with a little serious effort."  WRONG!  Don't head down that road.  It is a seriously wrong track.   This sin in us makes it impossible for us to change the heart of the problem -- the heart.  Only the manufacturer can do a total recall.
 

GET THE BOOK

This little message can't cover everything, but get your hands on a copy of the New Testament and read it with an open mind.  Let Him speak to you through it.  He will!
 

TALK IT OVER

At some point you will want to talk about it.  He will listen!  It requires no technology to communicate with Him.  Just open your heart and start.

Cover these main issues:
        1. I am a sinner (messed up by sin)
        2. Jesus, You are the Savior (God!)
        3. I need You (can't do it myself)
        4. Please fix me (forgive the acts, change the heart)
        5. I depending on You (Got no choice!)

That's just the beginning.  You can't even imagine all He wants to do for you if you will receive it.  He will speak to you through the Bible, encourage your heart, give you peace of mind,  new purpose in life, new values, new friends, a new life!
