Tina Grubb is the Music Director at Grace United Methodist Church. She has been with Grace for 8 years, and offers more than 30 years experience in church music. The music assistants, Penny Rice, Chuck Dionne and Betty Hubbard, offer their talent and knowledge in all the areas of music worship. Grace has a wonderful music program! We offer many opportunities to join in and worship the Lord.....
Adult Chancel Choir - Meets on Wednesday Nights from 7-8:30. Open to anyone, high school and up. Currently there are 20 members on roll. We would love to have new voices come and join us. The "Choir" provides music for all worship services at Grace, and travels to nursing/retirement homes and other churches . We sing a variety of music anthem and special trios, duets, and work on musical specials for different times of the year.
Grace is very blessed with talented young people. Opportunities are endless! Currently each Sunday afternoon from August through May, we combine music programs with MYF for any interested youth, grades 6-12, and children grades 1-5. The schedule is as follows:
Children's Handchimes 4:45-5:30 Offered to children grades 1-5. Lets beginners learn to read and play music, along with the opportunity to learn how to play an instrument. This group plays a special monthly song during the worship service.
Middle School MYF 4:45 - 5:30
Drama Group, Grace Kids at Play, 5:30 - 6:15. Lead by Betty
Hubbard, this group is for anyone grades 1-12 and beyond. Throughout the year
they work on small skits for worship and special times, and also assist the
Choirs with Christmas and Easter musicals.
Grab and Growl (snack or light supper) 6:15 - 6:30
Grace Notes "Nutz" Puppets
6:30 - 7:30 . A Ministry including the youth, grades 6-12 and beyond. Through
the handiwork of Betty Hubbard, we have created the Puppets, and each person
joining the group portrays a puppet of their choosing, ranging from Frogs to
Kitty Kats, boys and girls, to Grumpy Ole Grandpa! We bring a message, using
skit and song on the second Sunday of the month! Also we help open the service
each Sunday with a "flashback" featuring different puppets each week.
The Troupe travel to other churches and retirement/nursing homes to spread the
"puppet word of God".
Youth Choir 6:30 - 7:30- grades 6-12 Along with being puppets, this group
works on worship and praise music, contemporary, traditional and 4 part vocal
selections to compliment the Puppet skits. Most of the youth choir also
participates in the adult chancel choir.
High School MYF 7:30 - 8:30
Middle School Handchimes 7:30 - 8:30, grades 6-8, is for beginner and advanced students. We play several times throughout the year, especially for Christmas and Easter services. This group is also responsible for leading the children chimers in the chiming of the 11 o'clock worship service.
As you can see, if you are young or old, a beginner or more advanced, we offer a program for YOU! We are always moving forward and experiencing new things and learning new ways to worship. And the best part is "You get to worship God and have fun too"! COME, JUST AS YOU ARE, and worship in music and praise God with us each week.
