MISSIONS

During October, the Missions Committee will collect new or gently used sweaters and coats to be donated to Southington Community Services. Leave all items in the back of the sanctuary.

We will have an on-going collection for nonperishable items for our pantry and the Southington Community Services/Bread for Life pantry. Items may be left in the wicker basket in the fellowship hall, or in the back of the sanctuary. Items needed are cereal, pasta and pasta sauce, peanut butter and jelly, tuna fish, juice and healthy snacks.

GRACE HELPING HANDS

The Missions Committee is very excited to start a new program called Grace Helping Hands. This program will start out as having Grace UMC individuals volunteer their time for a few hours at a time to help anyone in our church family. Earlier this summer, there were inserts in the bulletin where individuals signed up for volunteer activities which included taking in/out air conditioners, yard work/gardening, small fix it jobs, light house cleaning, transportation to/from appointments and light shopping or errands. Some members had other suggestions where they were willing to volunteer their time. Stay tuned for more information as we look next to the church family to see what their needs are. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Our next scheduled day to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity is Saturday October 31. We can have 15 volunteers. There is a sign up sheet in the narthex for those interested in this truly rewarding experience. See Paula Lopatosky if you have any questions.

MISSION TRIP TO HAITI

If anyone is interested in going on a mission trip, the next VIM team to Haiti will be November 5 through 13. The anticipated cost is $1,400. Other teams are being assembled for February, March, May (college students), and July (high school students). Remember, the Missions Committee has a scholarship fund to help with costs of a mission trip.
