SOFTBALL TEAM

In case you didn't know, Glen Alpine had a softball team this summer.  Each Monday evening, Glen Alpine church members participated in games at the South View Park.  The only prerequisite for playing is that you wanted to fellowship with other Christians and have some fun playing a good game of ball.  The churches that participating included:  Glen Alpine, Mafair, First Broad Street, and Crossroads.

Neal Morrell announced in church on Sunday that the season had ended.  When asked by Preacher John what the final record was, Neal responded, "Well, we won one or two!"  Preacher John then commented that this record was better than last year's record.  (Note:  This is Glen Alpine UMC's first year in participating in a soft ball league in a while.)

But a good time was had by all who participated and who rooted the team on!

KING'S KIDS SPRING MUSICAL

The King's Kids Choir presented a spring musical on Sunday, May 6, 2001.  "Fish Tales" is a story that teaches us about God's patience with a doubting world with the resurrection story and calls us to commitment in the tale of the fishers of men.  The Kids have worked hard over the past few weeks to present this program.  Pictures are available here.

CHANGE FOR CHILDREN

Just a reminder that those milk cartons placed at each exit are to collect your pocket change for "Change for Children."  At the end of each worship service, drop your pocket change in one of the cartons.  Your pocket change can change the world for children!  Check out more information concerning this project here!

GAUMC RECEIVES RECOGNITION AWARDS

Did you know that Glen Alpine United Methodist Church was recently recognized as a Silver Medal Church of Excellence in Evangelism by the Holston Conference?  To receive this recognition, we fulfilled certain criteria for helping us to "by all means win some."  We also had a profession of faith for every 50 resident church members.

We have also been recognized as a Five-Star Mission Church by the Holston Annual Conference.  This status was achieved by your giving your full support to the Conference Fair Share Apportionment and at least one Advance Special gift in each of the four categories of World, National United Methodist Committee on Relief and Conference Initiated Special.
