Bruce Graves
nominated for
"The 15 Best Every-Day
United Methodist Award 2000"

Upon reading the article in the "Interpreter" magazine, there was no doubt who was worthy of the nomination of "The 15 Best Every-Day United Methodist" award.  He is an inspiration to all who are blessed to know him.  I have seen very few people who truly reach out to those who visit our church and also minister to our church family.  For visitors, he represents Christ with a warm handshake, friendly smile, and words of sincere welcome.  For our congregation, he always has a word of cheerful encouragement even when our membership was being tested.  He has such a contagious love for the Lord that even the children recognize it.

Throughout his long successful life as a family person, corporate supervisor, civic leader, and church pillar, Bruce remains a humble, salt-of-the-earth man, who gives al the glory of his accomplishments to his Creator.  "Pride goeth before destruction..." is one of his most quoted scriptures, for he knows the true source of his strength is God.  At nearly 92 years old, he continues his Christian witness every day from his still-active church work to his cheery habit of calling all Glen Alpine members to wish them "Happy Birthday!"  These special phone calls are so greatly appreciated that the church family decided to shower Bruce, on his 90th birthday, with his own special phone calls and cards.  Bruce is a living example of Christ's love in action.

We are so lucky to have someone like Bruce, and God has blessed all who know him.
