The Glen Alpine United Methodist Church Early Learning and Child Care Center offers quality, full-time child care service.  We are state licensed for an enrollment of 54 children, infant through age 5.  The Center offers child care service from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. weekdays, and a pre-school program from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. each weekday during the school year (September through May).

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of the Glen Alpine United Methodist Early Learning and Child Care Center will be to provide a quality, full-time child care program.  The aim of the Center will be to provide Christian care for the basic needs of children by intelligent, perceptive and caring adults.  The Center will provide an environment for self-exploration and joyful learning according to the needs and abilities of each child.  The Center will provide each child with opportunities to develop confidence, to make discoveries about his world, and to acquire mental, social and physical developmental skills.  The staff of the Center will encourage each child to develop his own interests, and to acquire skills in self-control and acceptable behavior.  The staff of the Center will give each child personal attention and loving care, so as to foster a trusting relationship with his caregivers.

The Glen Alpine United Methodist Early Learning and Child Care Center is a non-profit institution founded by the Glen Alpine United Methodist Church, under guidance of the Child Care Board of Glen Alpine.

(NEWS FROM OUR CHILD CARE CENTER)

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

As some of you may have heard in recent news, Tennessee has passed into law the 3-star rating system by which the Department of Human Services will be grading all child care centers. The system will measure the qualifications of the director, training of staff, compliance with licensing, parent/family involvement, ratio of adults to children, environmental rating criteria and staff compensation. All areas are important in order to have a quality child care center. We are working on improvements in all areas.

We do want to have a quality Center. We are more than babysitters to these children. And we have a very unique opportunity by being in the church where we can present Christ's love to the children. Preacher John has chapel every Wednesday at 9:30 with the 3-4 year olds, and beginning this Fall we will be having Bible lessons every day with the children in all the classes.

We are excited about the direction our Center is going. Our license was just renewed in June for another year and we are now accepting enrollments for Fall preschool classes. With a quality staff, your prayers and God's guidance, we can offer our children, no matter where they are from, a quality, loving Center.
