Youth Mission Statement
Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe. I Tim 4:12 (NAS)

All youth 6th through 12th grade are welcome!

May 4- SAF 4:30-6:00 at Riverside UMC, Abandon Concert 6-8

In addition to Sunday School, the Youth meet on Sunday evenings at the church from 5 - 7 p.m. for various activities including:

  • Movie night (5:00-7:30)
  • Game night
  • Special seasonal activities
  • SAF (Search and Find)
Come join the fellowship and fun in a safe, Christian environment.

SAF began in September 2007. More than 50 youth participated in the kickoff Luau at Riverside. Youth from Riverside, High Street and Gethsemane United Methodist Churches are participating in the SAF (Search And Find) Youth Ministry. Fellowship, food, bible study, guest speakers and fun are all part of the experience. All youth welcome, and parent volunteers help make this a success.

Summer activities include Senior High Institute! This year, we are going to Sr. High Institute June 22-28. Registration is open. Any one entering 9th grade through graduation is eligible. Be thinking about attending Senior High Institute or Camp Adventure at Camp Impact. Call the church office at 284-6877 or email gumchurch@comcast.net for more information.

The Gethsemane youth group uses GUMY (Gethsemane United Methodist Youth) as a acronymn for their fellowship with each other, with the church, and with God.

The black t-shirts with this special GUMY symbol and the logo "God is Using Me, is he using You?" on the back are worn to church, youth functions, to school, and in every day life.

Summer 2006 outings included a trip to Cedar Point amusement park and preparing and serving lunch at the Habitat for Humanity Apostle's Build in Muncie, Indiana.
