Germfask United Methodist Church was 100 years old in 2004.
Unfortunately, we did not hold a centennial celebration.
The church is small in membership (21 members at present)
and most members are definitely senior citizens. Financial
problems are very real to the church right now as each month
the treasurer fights to find the money to pay the bills.
The church has been blessed with help from the Conference
Equitable Salary Committee and also aid from the GCCP.
How can you help us? We have only one major fundraiser
during the year ? the Strawberry Festival which is held
the first Wednesday after the 4th of July. If you are in
the area, stop by the community center for a wonderful strawberry
shortcake. Fundraisers are difficult in Germfask because
the community is very small and more remote from some of
the larger towns that are more populated.
How else can you help us? ?Love gifts? are always welcome
and much appreciated. Could you be a sister church? In exchange
for monetary assistance, we would be delighted to host you
to a wonderful visit to the Upper Peninsula where you could
see the Seney Wildlife Refuge, Pictured Rocks, Taquamenon
Falls and other joys of the U.P. How about some canoeing
or Kayaking? If you are able to help us, send any gifts
to PO Box 135, Germfask, MI 49836.
