| ADVENT AND LENT ?SOUP AND SANDWICH?
STUDIES
Held in conjunction with McMillan, we take turns bringing
the soup and sandwich makings. Pastor Karen leads a study
from an Advent or Lenten study book.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
The Vacation Bible School is held for one week during the
summer.for the children of the community. Attendance averages
about 16. Actvities include songs, bible stories, crafts,
games and snack time. A special program on Friday for the
parents, church and community highlights what has been learned.
?HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS? PARTY
Again, this activity is open to all the children in the
community. They have a chance to do their Christmas shopping
for friends and relatives using our little ?store? of goodies
that have been collected through the year for this project.
And of course, the party includes a birthday cake for Jesus.
JAM MAKING
The ladies of the church get together after the Strawberry
Festival for a jam making party to use up any leftover strawberries.
The jam is sold at the Curtis craft fair and is also put
in the Christmas baskets for the shut-ins.
THE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL
The Strawberry Festival is held the first Wednesday after
the 4th of July at the Community Center. This festival has
been held annually for over fifty years and it is the main
fundraiser for the Ladies Aid. Starting as a lawn party,
it has grown into a major attraction serving residents of
Germfask and surrounding communities as well as visitors
to the area. The festival offers not only strawberry shortcake,
but a bake sale and a large craft table. Grace Brubaker
always provides a gorgeous quilt to raffle off and it seldom
brings in less than $500.
