Coming Events!

Healthy Congregations Workshop - Thanks to so many of you who have signed up to attend this valuable workshop this coming weekend. We have 29 people from our church and 46 people from other churches. That is awesome!

Haitian Earthquake - If you would like to make a donation to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) dedicated to Haiti Rescue and Recovery, make checks payable to our church (FUMC) and mark "Haiti Relief" in the memo. We will immediately forward all donations to our Conference Office. Every dollar you give will go directly into the communities of need. We have sent 19 health kits. Thank you for your contributions. We continue accepting donations. Needed: towels, nail clippers, toothbrushes.

Thank you to the outpouring of prayers and financial support from United Methodists in North Central New York! According to the NCNY Finance Office as of Friday, February 12, $110,303 has been donated for Haiti Relief. And from the GBGM office in New York City, $11 million had been donated as of Friday across the denomination. Please convey to your congregations, my gratitude for such a faithful response to the hurts and needs of our brothers and sisters in need in Haiti. Pastor Jeff Childs, NCNYCUMC.

Next Sunday, February 28th will be Blanket Sunday when we take up an offering to provide Church World Service with blankets for disaster victims world wide as well as here in the U.S.

VBS - Funding for our VBS has been cut short due to only one other church helping us support this ministry financially. If we are not able to raise at least $500 we will not be able to provide our Community VBS this summer. Please let Nancy Smith know if you will be able to help financially with this important ministry. The March Carillon will contain a response sheet for you to indicate your support amount. Please prayerfully consider this valuable ministry.

Opportunity for Women: Day Apart - March 13th from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Dundee UMC. "Let's Get Together, God's Tapestry of Life" is the theme and the presenter is Rev. Sharon Schmit. Bring a bag lunch, Bible and a friend. Call Tasha if you need a ride or want to car pool.

The Discretionary Fund is in need of funds to help the larger than usual demand. Please make checks payable to the church and mark "Discretionary Fund" in memo.

As we enter our third year of our pledge of $3000 for the expansion project at Casowasco Camp and Conference Center, we have collected $2552.27 to date in our Coins for Casowasco containers at the back of the sanctuary/chapel. Put your loose change in the containers to help fund our share of this project. Of course, no paper money or checks will be refused. Your coins have contributed $1000 a year. Great job!

The Geneva Methodist Women are reminding us that we may leave second hand items at Linden Exchange and donate the money received to our Geneva Methodist Women's account there. Please see the insert in the newsletter outlining all the items that you can bring to the Linden Shop.

Are you getting the church news updates through email? If not, be sure and let the church office know of your current email address and we will add you on. Email it to the office at genevafumc@fltg.net.

WE ARE IN THE PICTURES!!! Go online to see and purchase cards that have pictures of our First United Methodist Church windows on them! The web site is: www.zazzle.com/UMChurch and is available right now. We have a selection to choose from, including new! note cards with no sentiment on the inside. You could also order the images on a cup, stamps, a throw blanket, tote bag, tie, etc. We welcome all creative ideas for items you want to see with our church windows on them - think of upcoming holidays, wedding invitations, etc.

E-mail Addresses: In order to keep the congregation updated on important information, we are compiling a list of email addresses to keep you better informed and to extend our prayer chain. Please put your email address on the attendance form during worship or call into the church office.
