In 1998 Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo started the ministry of knitting or crocheting prayer shawls. The Crossett United Methodist Women adopted the ministry in September 2007. They meet each Thursday morning in the Couples and Careers Classroom in the Church Administration Building (Number 36 on the Facilities Map) from 10am to noon. Prayers are said during the creation of the shawl or felt lap robe and a final blessing is offered before the shawl in sent on its way. They have answered a call from Children's Hospital in Little Rock for hats and donate a shawl a month to the Monticello Hospice Home Care. Many shawls have been give to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Not all participants are Methodist and anyone interested in the ministry would be welcomed.
