The Crossett Area Food Bank provides basic food stuffs to area families in need. It is supported by voluntary contributions from local individuals, churches, businesses (including Bemis, Walmart and GP) and the United Way of Ashley County. Applicants are screened by a committee that works closely with the Department of Human Services in Hamburg. The office is at City Hall, but there's no connection between the committee and the city government.
The Food Bank is located at the Presbyterian Church, 309 Pine St. and is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The workers are all volunteers.
