| Hurricane Relief 2005-2008 |
FUMC is active with various efforts in hurricane relief. You can participate by cash donations, relief
supplies, personal assistance, helping to sponsor a family, being part of a construction work party, and
praying. Click here to find more details. After FUMC volunteers trucked supplies to Louisiana in September 2005 to aid in the care of displaced persons (see Photo Album), a team of FUMC volunteers helped again, in the hurricane ravaged Gulf Coast of southern Mississippi, in March and November 2006. |

| Volunteers In Mission (VIM) |
FUMC sponsored four Volunteers in Mission (VIM) service trips in 2006,
and returned in 2007! Your donations help our volunteers! The VIM program within the Methodist Church
promotes "hands on" mission work throughout the world. Each year tens
of thousands of United Methodists serve, not only statewide and nationally,
but throughout the world to every area where disaster strikes or where there
is need. Foothills Church is very proud to sponsor the VIM
trips, and appreciates your donations. The first involved a team of 20, with 17 from our church, who worked in the hurricane ravaged Gulf Coast region of southern Mississippi from March 11 to 18. Our volunteers stayed at Vancleave Methodist Church, which graciously fed and housed our group for the week. Team members worked to rebuild several of the 100,000 homes that were completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Many of the homes were uninsured. The second trip was an annual event in June. A group of volunteers travel to Colonet, Mexico, to build a new home for an impoverished family. This year we worked in partnership with Lafayette Methodist Church, which offered to raise the funding for construction costs ($3,000 worth of building materials). Because our volunteers pay for their own food, our church's financial responsibility for Colonet is eased. However, we still need donations for transportation and insurance costs, as well as additional funding to support the Methodist church in Colonet, provide a running water system for the home being built, and purchase household items (e.g., stove, kitchen utensils, broom, dustpan, etc.) Because the needs that we saw were so great, we returned to Mississippi in November, and also returned to Colonet! Our 2007 trips are to Colonet, Mexico, July 13 - 23, and to the Vancleave, Mississippi, November 17 - 24. Contact Judith Potor at 530-677-1849 for more information on the Colonet trip, and Marilyn and Jim Long at 530-676-1798 for more information on the Hurricane Katrina Relief trip. |

| Pastor's Discretionary Fund | Can you imagine having to choose between eating and having electricity, or between washing your clothes or having money to put gas in your car to drive to work with? Pastor Carol meets people with these problems every week. Your gifts to this fund help to prevent these choices from having to be made. Make checks out to FUMC and indicate that it goes to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund. |
