AARP, the California Retired Teachers Association and the Outreach Commission of the First United Methodist Church are sponsoring this free workshop. It will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the church, located at the corner of East and South Streets in Redding. A complimentary lunch and informational materials are included.
Jerry Benito, Shasta County District Attorney and representatives of the Redding Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office will present information about the latest scams targeting local citizens.

Saturday, October 11th 7:00 pm – A Concert for the Tents of Hope, Sanctuary
Genocide No More-Save Darfur invites you to “A Concert for the Tents of Hope,” featuring the music of Greg Lawson, “Songs for Darfur.” The program will also include a report from the camps for displaced persons in Chad by Gabriel Stauring and Katie Jay Scott, who recently returned from Africa. The two Shasta County tents which will be sent to Sudan this winter will be on display in front of the church. There is no admission charge but donations for Camp Kounoungo will be accepted.
Tents of Hope is a nationwide movement which will culminate in a gathering of the tents on the Mall in Washington, DC November 7-9. Greg Lawson will be performing at the Mall. Over the last year, Tents of Hope has grown to over 330 cities in 45 states - and it is still growing. The two Shasta County tents have been painted by students at Shasta High School, Grant School, Meadow Lane School, North Cow Creek School and Manzanita School.
