The two of them were on the road leading to Emmaus, and the Bible tells us that they were “downcast.”
Have you ever been downcast? Looked ahead in great anticipation only to be terribly disappointed when that special moment never came?
Of course you have; it happens to all of us at some point in our lives.
These two friends on the road had looked forward to great things to be accomplished by the man called Jesus. Their dreams had been shattered, however, when the Romans had executed him, just as they had done to all the others whom they looked upon as troublemakers!
But that was all a long time ago. Today we know that love cannot be killed; that God cannot be thwarted. We can be assured that no matter how dark things may look in our lives, God still is in charge. The “mills of god” may indeed grind slowly. But for us, we have wonderful things to look forward to.
I've got it from a very good source!
