Do you remember that stern voice speaking from Heaven telling Moses, “Take off your shoes; the place on which you stand is holy ground!”
Well, let me say, firstly, that I believe it happened. I believe that our wonderful God, in His Omnipotence, spoke those words to Moses, and I think poor Moses was scared stiff!
I guess that we all remember the thrilling story that enfolded and its glorious ending: The Children of Israel freed from slavery.
For some reason, those words heard in the sandy desert have always fascinated me. But then, who among us has never wished that God would someday speak to them, just one time?
I'm going to tell you how this may come about for you!
The next Sunday that we celebrate Holy Communion, as you walk slowly down the center aisle to partake of the little piece of bread and that very red grape juice, open your heart and mind to God. Say softly (so no one else but God can hear you) “Lord, I know all of the wonderful things that you have done for me.”
That's all there is to it.
And if you suddenly picture the people that are a part of your life and the many blessings God has given to you; and if your eyes get a little teary, well …
You have just heard that “Voice.” Congratulations!
Amen.
