"5th Sunday"- Sunday School
11-29-09
"5th Sunday" Sunday School?
Have you wondered what the 5th "Sunday" Sunday School is all
about? I thought I would elaborate for the parents out there
that may not know much about it. The Partakers Sunday school
class has graciously offered to teach Sunday school to all
students who attend every 5th Sunday of the month. It allows
my Sunday School teachers to have a break, gives the kids a
different perspective for Sunday School and bridges the gap
for our mature members in helping with the kids. The
Partakers whole class helps out. Marilyn Jacobs assigns
members the task of lesson preparation, games, crafts,
snacks and music preparation. Once decided they have to put
the plan into action. The members of the class are veteran
Sunday School teachers or Public School teachers and many
other professions. They do a fabulous job of making it
interesting and fun. When they first began they realized the
older kids needed a little more interesting topics so now
they break them up into groups of younger and older and
teach the lesson on their age levels. The class finds it
extremely rewarding putting forth the effort and time for
your children, we would appreciate your children's
attendance on the 5th Sunday of the month, your kids will
really enjoy it!
Children's Church
The Children's Church Ministry Team provides a church
service geared to younger children during the 11:00 am
service. It is in Old Fellowship Hall. If your children
attend Sunday school they can stay after for Children's
Church or to participate just simply attend church service
and the children will be dismissed at the proper time. You
may pick up your child in Fellowship Hall after the
service.
Sunday School program
What an exciting place to be on Sunday morning! We have
classes for children beginning with 2 yr-3 yr olds with Mrs.
Teresa Harrison across from the Nursery. 4 yr-1st grade with
Mrs. Jan Austin room 201, 2nd-3rd grade with Deanna &
Phillip Anderson room 105 and our 4th-5th grade above the
sanctuary (soon to be moving) with Mel & Melanie Reed,
Debbie Castor and Ed McAllister as teachers. Our teacher's
are outstanding, loving people. We hope to see each of you
in class on Sunday!
Jr. Choir Hey Kids!
Do you like to sing songs about Jesus? Do you want to learn
more about Him and music too? Jr. Choir sings and rehearses
during the school year. All children, grades 3 through 7th
are encouraged to participate in this non auditioned choir.
The children learn first hand what it means to use their
time and talents for God. They learn musical skills and how
to work and get along with others. Children are an integral
part of our ministries here at First Church and we truly
worship God with music! Rehearsals are Sunday afternoons, at
3:30-4:30 pm starting Sept 13th.
Children's Choir & Krystal
Bells Practices are during the Children's Church at the
11:00 am service. Both music groups are open to all children
ages 4 yr through second grade. We perform periodically
throughout the year during church services.
First Rate Nurseries!
Two nurseries are available on Sunday morning for children
through age three. Infant nursery and our Toddler nursery.
Our paid staff provides a safe loving environment for each
of the children.
A Word to Parents!
We, the congregation and staff of First Church care about
your children. We strive to provide opportunities that are
age-appropriate to communicate the magnificent love of Jesus
to each of our precious children. We are truly fortunate to
have excellent teachers and volunteers to work in this area.
We encourage you to bring your children to be a part of the
many opportunities that are available. It is a privilege to
serve the children and get to know them as the extraordinary
people they are!
