Join an exciting team of volunteers helping to make faith a reality for our children.

Puppet Ministry: Be part of a team bringing God's truth to life for young children
Lead Puppet Ministry: Oganize, recruit puppeteers.
Neighborhood Ministries: Be available to hang out in the playground and interact with neighborhood children.
Teach Sunday School: Planting seeds of faith.
Sunday School Substitute: Substitute for teachers occasionally.
Children's Church: Help with lessons, supervision, activities during the first or second service. The age range of children is 4 years through second grade.
Help with special programs: Drivers, children's rallies.
Easter Extravaganza Party.
Mission Madness: Educate children about the importance of missions.
Jubiliation: A special program of study and fellowship for children 4 years old through fifth grade.
Basic Training: Monthly youth fellowship for children third through fifth grades.
All Saints Day Party: A positive alternative to Halloween.
Christmas Craft Extravaganza: Children decorate Chrismons and learn about symbols of Christmas.
Vacation Bible School: Teachers, helpers, music, cooks, etc.
Children Worship Folders: Prepare packets for children to use in Sunday morning worship.
Assist with Children's Ministry: Help wherever I am needed.
Story Time for Young Children: Help with set-up and assistance for a monthly story time for younger children.

Nursery
Join an exciting team of volunteers in our nurseries.

Substitute: Be available as a last-minute fill-in.

Youth Ministries
Join our vibrant team of volunteers ministering to our youth.

Sunday School: Assist in Sunday School classes.
Substitute Teacher: Fill in for a teacher at the last minute.
Serve MYF Supper: Plan, purchase and serve a meal during the school year on Sunday evenings from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m..
Coordinating of MYF Suppers: Help Barry in scheduling the MYF suppers. Take list of volunteers and call and assign dates for them to bring their snacks.

College Ministry
Lead Small group Bible study: Classes are for college students and young adults.
Family Ministry
A member of Family Ministries: Ministries that support marriages, parenting, financial issues and all of the other things that make families run.
Volunteer for Christian Financial Training: Learn how to make Christian financial decisions at a Christian Financial Training Seminar. Use those ideas to help others through seminars and other classes at our church.

Women in Mission
Esther Circle: Meets at 9:30 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of every month in different homes.
ETC Circle: Meets at 7:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday on every month in different homes.
Joy Circle: Meets at 9:15 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month in the Cafe. Child care is provided.
Sarah Circle: Meets at 1 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of every month in the Cafe.

Education
Teach Sunday School: Lead adult class into the Word.
Teach Short-term Class: College-aged through adult.
Rally Day: Help plan Sunday School fall rally.
Teacher Appreciation Banquet: Help honor our teachers. Help with set-up, serving, decorations, preparation, etc.

Mercy Ministry
Salvation Army: Serve in the Salvation Army's kitchen, ring bells at Christmas, etc.
Crisis Pregnancy Center: Volunteer in the Crisis Pregnancy Center wherever you are needed.
Crosslines Ministries: Distribute clothes and food to the needy.
Community Clinic: Serve at the clinic at Seventh Street and Joplin Avenue. Meals are needed once every two months for the volunteers. Finger foods or snacks would be appropriate.

Mission Ministry
Be part of sharing God's word with the world. Meets monthly.
Be on a specific mission team for a particular country which would include the U.S.A. or even Joplin, Mo.
Help plan and coordinate mission events and help set the direction that the Mission Committee should go.

People who may not be able to be committed every month, but wish to assist in one of the following:
Keep missionaries when they are visiting our church.
Help with a specific project.
Have coffee or small gathering for visiting missionaries.
Help with a dinner or fund-raiser.

Prayer Ministry
Clean and keep prayer stations and bulletin board updated in prayer room weekly.
Intercessory Prayer: One hour, each week in the prayer room.
Prayer Chain: Participate in the prayer chain, by either phone or e-mail.
Weslyan Fasting: Seeking God's vision and will for the church through fasting and prayer. Begins Thursday evening and ends mid-afternoon on Friday.
Testimonials: Share your testimony on an answered prayer in your life at one of the church services or another special time.
Praise and Prayer: Help organize the monthly praise and prayer service.

Visitation Ministry
Shut-in Ministry: Visit in homes, be a friend, offer a prayer.
Nursing Home Ministry: Assist with monthly nursing home worship. The second Sunday of each month provide songs, instrumental and a smiling face to the long-term sick.
Sunday Rapid Visitation: Meet with visitors of the church for a few short minutes and bring them a gift mug and informational packet on Sunday after church.
Weekday Rapid Visitation: Meet with visitors of the church for a few short minutes and bring them a gift mug and informational packet during the week.

Hobbies
Quilting Group: Meet every Tuesday morning for quilting and Christian fellowship. If you do not know how to quilt, there are teachers willing to teach. The proceeds from the quilts go to Redbird Missions.
Special Craft Classes: Looking for teachers and students to take on one area of interest class, monthly. If you have a special talent, such as cooking, soap making, painting, drawing, pottery, sewing, etc., let us know and we will develop a class for your area.

Sound system
Soundboard Technician: Train to run our PA system for worship services and for special events.

Evangelism
Become a member of this exciting opportunity to help educate the world of God's Word.
Attendance Entry Ministry: Help keep worship records. Data entry of whom is present at worship.
Visitation Ministry: Visit church members on prayer list, follow-up with new visitors, etc.

Welcome Booth
Welcome Booth Greeter: Offer a warm smile, directions and information for 8:15 service, 9:30 Sunday School hour, 10:15 life service or 11:00 service.

Welcoming and Hospitality
Become a member of this exciting new ministry.
Video Special Events: Record special events for our church throughout the year to provide "A Year in the Life @ FUMC." Several volunteers would be ideal to share this exciting journey.
Video Editor: We need an editor for the videos of "A Year in the Life @ FUMC." If you have special editing skills and/or access to an editing facility, this would be a great asset to our church.
Photography: Take pictures of new members on the day they join. Call ahead of time on Friday to inquire if new members will be joining on that Sunday. Maintain new member board.
Sponsor New Members: Help new members become acquainted with FUMC and all of the programs that are available to them.
Flower Delivery: Deliver worship flowers to shut-ins on Sunday afternoons or on Mondays.
Receptions/banquets: Help with weddings, funerals, etc.

Worship
Acolyte Recruitment: Train and coordinate candle lighters.
Communion Server: Assist pastors serving communion.
Communion Preparation: Assist in the preparation of the communion elements for either Wednesday services, first service on Sunday or second service on Sunday.
Special Decorations: Help set up for seasonal events. We need strong guys to help set up Christmas trees, ponsettias and Easter lilies.
Ushers: Welcome folks, bulletins and offerings.

Music
Chancel Choir: College-aged and older. 11:00 a.m. service choir; rehearse on Wednesdays from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.
Sanctuary Singers: Teen-age and older. 8:30 a.m. service; rehearse on Sundays at 8 a.m.
Praise Team: Instrumentalists needed for 8:15 a.m. service. Need to be able to read music.
Wesleyan Choir: Youth choir for grades 8 to 12. Rehearse on Sundays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Memorial Handbells: High school and older. Must read music. Rehearse on Wednesdays from 6:15 to 7 p.m.
Assist with Junior Choir: Sit with the choir during church, maintain robes, music folders, refreshments and help at different times when needed.
Typist: Help type rosters, newsletters, schedules, etc.

Drama
Participate in drama troupe.
Help with drama ministries: Support staff with costumes, usher, refreshments, build sets, sound, lights, stagehands and set up/take down staging.

Office Assistance
Substitute Office Assistant: Answer telephones during staff meetings, vacation times or busy times and seasons of the year, volunteer to allow for the office staff to take days of rest and relaxation.
Computer/Data Entry: Enter information for special projects.
Assist with mass mailings: Stuffing envelopes, affixing stamps, etc.

Miscellaneous
Kitchen Help: Volunteers for kitchen help. Restock shelves, return dishes to patrons, wash towels, empty out refrigerator. Also, letting Doug know which supplies need to be restocked in the pantry.
Special Event Helper: Decorate tables and rooms for special events. Set up tables and chairs, balloons, whatever needs to be done.
Landscape Maintenance: Help pull weeds and take care of the landscaping of our church.
Adopt Southeast Corner Flower Bed: Responsible for the plants, replacing the plants as needed, pulling weeds, getting with Doug to see what the best plan of action would be for the bed at the front of the church.
Drive Van: Need a volunteer to drive the van for special events and all age ranges; from preschool to adult.

He will use anyone who is ready and willing to serve Him. God wants you
to use the talents that He has given you to serve Him.
There are many ways kids can serve the Lord.
Whatever He is calling you to do, it is important.
