A house of worship has been located on the same site at 73 Clinton Street here in Greenville for over 167 years. A log church was first erected in the year 1830 to serve as a place of worship for the pioneer people of the Methodist tradition who first inhabited our community. Previously the fledgling class (organized in 1828) had met in private homes.
As the community of Greenville grew and thrived, successive buildings, first of frame (1840) and then of brick (1885) were erected. After the disasterous fire of 1948 destroyed the brick structure, a new church of stone was dedicated in 1956, and now serves as home for the present generation of the First United Methodist congregation.

May you find strength for your soul, warm fellowship and a place to belong. Here you will be loved and encouraged. If you are a guest and are seeking a church home, please know that you are welcome here.
