Saturday, November 14, 2009 10:00 a.m. in Eschtruth Hall our church is sponsoring a seminar on child/youth protection.  A well-known local child psychologist, members of law enforcement, and the Director of Children’s’ Advocacy Center of Brevard County will speak followed by a Q&A session and lunch.   Call Phyllis Banks 783-7028 or Nora Highbarger 783-0210 for additional information.

Our Child Care Center has spaces available for children ages 1 – 4.  If you need child care or know someone who does, contact them at 321-784-8881 or stop by the Child Care Center office.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOXES ARE HERE!  - Christmas shoeboxes are now available in the narthex, Eschtruth Hall and the church office.  This is a wonderful opportunity to spread the gospel to children around the world.  One in three children receiving a shoebox will receive Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Savior.  Please pick up your box or boxes today and help a child in need.   Instructions for filling the boxes are contained in each box.  They must be returned to the church by November 17.  More information will be provided at all services next week.  Call Irene Painton, 799-0567, if you have questions. 

MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW for Tuesday, November 10, at 6:00 p.m. for the UMM dinner followed by our Church Charge Conference.  Rev Robert K. Pearcy, Pastor of Grace UMC, Merritt Island will conduct the conference.   The usual steak/salmon dinner with all the fixings will be served.  Sign-up sheets are available in the Narthex today or you can call the church office.

Changes to Missile Distribution
To reduce the cost of printing and mailing, the church council voted at its last meeting, Thursday, October 22, to discontinue mailing the monthly newsletter, “The Missile”.  Copies will be available on-line at the church web site,
http://www.gbgm-umc.org/fumccb-fl, or can be picked up at the church.  This policy will be implemented January 1, 2010.

A 50th Anniversary Celebration to honor Jack and Beth Downey’s assignment to this church will be held on February 27-28, 2010.  The first planning meeting for this special event will be on Wednesday, Nov. 11th at 1:00 p.m. in room 4.  We would like a variety of people to bring your creative ideas to the meeting.  It is important to get plans made now before the busy holiday season.   Publicity needs to be mailed in early January.   Contact Janet Weese at 799-9188 or Annette Gross at 783-7596.

Outside Church Activities:
Celebrations, a free Choral Concert will be held at Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach, today at 3:00 p.m.  It will feature music from Bach, Handel, Mozart, Thompson, Anderson, and Rutter.

4th Annual Brevard Family Partnership Walk for Love- Saturday, Nov. 14th, 8:15 a.m. at the Avenue Viera (Courtyard).  Raise awareness about child adoptions and help spread the word about the many wonderful children on the Space Coast who are looking for a “forever home”.  FREE to Walk- Free Lunch for all participants!  Register at www.brevardfp.org or call 752-4650 ext. 2023.
