Missions
First United Methodist Church is very involved in service work, both locally
and in places far away. Our vision states that we are committed to "serve
human needs in our local and world community," and that is exactly what we
try to do! Here are some of the projects we are involved in. For more
information, call the church office at (501) 847-0226 or email us at fumcbryant@aristotle.net.
CJCOHN (Churches' Joint Council on Human Need)--a Saline County ecumenical
agency for the relief of food, clothing and other emergency needs.
Harvest Moon Craft Show--Each fall, the Missions Action Team sponsors this
outstanding craft show to raise money for missions. This year's show is
September 28-29.
Operacion Hogar--This Volunteers In Mission project, sponsored by the United
Methodist Church, builds homes in the poorest section of Juarez, Mexico. The
church periodically sends volunteers to help.
Stone Soup--a feeding program for the homeless in Little Rock. Groups of
youth and adults periodically volunteer.
Our youth are very active in mission, too. Each summer, our youth are
involved in mission trips; this summer they will participate in the Mountain T.O.P. in Tennessee. Regular
youth mission activities include Stone Soup, highway litter cleanup, and
visitation of the church's homebound members and nursing home patients.
