Reynosa Trip is Just Around the Corner Our annual return to Reynosa is coming this November. Twenty two people have committed for this chance to serve God's people and share his love with our neighbors. We can take a total of twenty-four so we're almost full. This year we'll be going a little further into Mexico so we will all need passports. These can be obtained at the Bossier Post Office for around $85.00. This could take up to 4-6 weeks so don't delay. Our departure from Bossier FUMC will be Nov. 19 at 7:30 in the morning. It takes just about 12 hours to get there. We'll be staying in Mexico but leaving the vehicles on the US side. They will be secure so things can be left safely in the vehicles. With this many going and with Larry and Tim driving their private autos, we could all fill up the small bus, no seats left over. Or we can use the big bus for more room. Robert Morris has installed a DC power outlet so with a small converter I own, I know it will handle a small TV. If anyone has a larger capacity converter, we could power a TV and DVD if someone has one to bring on the bus. Our work this year ought to be more like our first trip. With Richard Little along, Willie ought to be pleased. We'll be doing some construction, electrical work, paneling, wall erecting, painting, and sheet rock work. Ted Lowery won't be with us this time so his vast tool supply will not be coming with us. In the past, hammers, nail bags, gloves, paint brushes, electric and battery powered drills, saws, levels, and squares have all come in handy. I do not know Willie's tool supply at our new work site. Cost this year is $190.00 each. La VIM instituted a new $100 per missioner fee for supplies but it came to us after the budget process. I'll be searching for mission monies and asking Finance Committee for a congregational asking. Missioners will not be paying this $100 materials fee. Included in the $190 is La VIM's fee, bus use, six bottles of water per day per missioner while in Mexico, and a small gift fee for our host. Do plan on taking care of your own travel food expenses. Attendees at press time were Ben Broussard, Brannens (2), Broadwells (4), Grants(3), Littles (5), Makers (2), Michelle and Dean Little, Linda Boudreaux (from Many), Marjorie Davis, and Mark White (friend of Ben Broussard). In September and October we will be holding our short meetings to fill out the paperwork for the trip. Dates to be determined. Hasta luego, Jim Maker |

Another Mexico Mission Trip Opportunity Hey, ever wanted to go on an international trip to Mexico but Thanksgiving just is not when you're free? Brother David has made me aware of another mission trip opportunity that he and his family will be making. First Baptist in Haynesville is leading a trip to Ciudad Juarez October 15-21. They will be traveling by large bus. Juarez is just across the border from El Paso. Work days are Monday through Thursday. The crew will be staying in Juarez and doing similar work to the Reynosa trips. Cost for this trip is $340.00 each and includes materials, room and board, fuel, and meals while in Mexico. It's another option. See Jim Maker or Brother David Dietzel.. |
