Preschool Programs - First Church has two programs designed for preschool children.

Play Pals is a mother's-morning-out program offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Preschool hall. The hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. If you have a child between the ages of fifteen months and five years (who have not attended kindergarten), we would love for them to come play with us.

Children under the age of two may play from 9:00 - 11:30, and children two and older may stay from 9:00 - 1:00. Snacks are provided.

Preschool Program - The First United Methodist Church Preschool program will provide a happy envioronment for children in which learning is based on clear goals of self-development, resulting in fruitful activities and fun. This stress free envioronment allows each child the freedom to progress at his/her own rate. It is our hope and prayer that from this informal learning experience there emerges a child who has a positive self-concept; a child who is physically, emotionally and spiritually coordinated; a child who learns to function in a group of childredn and adults; a child who is learning to appreciate and enjoy God's world and the people who share the world with them; who can use language to communicate with others, to express themselves in many ways; in summary, a child who is curious and wants to learn.

This is a preschool program designed to provide readiness for kindergarten. Readiness is not reading, writing, adding or subtracting for the preschooler. Instead it is interacting with others and engaging in planned activities through play that will enable him or her to perform these skill successfully later. Therefore, throughout our entire program you will see "work" disguised as "play".

The preschool program has three age level groups with a variety of days per week options. There is Preschool for 2 year olds, Preschool for 3 year olds and Pre-Kindergarten for 4 year olds.
