We’re Here for You

In the Sunday morning worship services and Sunday School, nearly 400 people are almost a microcosm of Randolph County society. Some are wealthy; some are of modest means. We have people whose families have been in our church for four generations and we have people who just arrived this year! We have young couples and single parents with children; empty nesters; and folks downsizing from homesteads into townhouses! Whatever your age or station in life, you will find someone at First United Methodist with a similar life situation.

As Methodists, we live out our denominational motto: "If your heart is as my heart, give me your hand." WE believe in "relational evangelism," not "doctrinal evangelism." We can reach out in friendship and Christian fellowship to those of different opinions in religion, politics, and lifestyles. We are diverse and respect each other’s "place to stand" as God’s children. We can disagree agreeably!

Our worship celebrates our rich heritage of Christian music and is a blend of liturgy and free-church style. Other churches in town are committed to contemporary worship; we pursue excellence and warmth in traditional worship. In music we span the centuries; in sermons we are as fresh as the morning newspaper; in program ministries for all ages, we are comprehensive and relevant. We are here for you! We find a need and meet it!

United Methodism has been found to be the #1 alternate choice for Christians of other traditions! We accept all baptisms as valid and receive membership transfers from all other Christian churches. We believe communion is an invitation to the Lord’s Table, not Methodism’s table; so "whosoever will may come." We extend first compassion and company for you; commitment and loyalty come as you bond with us in this family of the body of Christ.
