A community of Christians involved in spreading the Gospel and practicing Christian love, the First United Methodist Church has served the Asheboro area since 1834 when the original church was built on two acres near the present site. Generations of families have worshipped, fellowshipped, married, been baptized, had funerals and lived through periods of good times and not so good times. The original part of the present building was occupied in 1926. Subsequent additions have included an education wing and later, an educational building.
First United Methodist Church is affiliated with the United Methodist Church through the High Point District, the Western North Carolina Conference and the Southeastern Jurisdiction. The aim of First Church is to minister to the needs of all ages. There are programs and activities designed to promote spiritual growth for everyone. From the very youngest child to our senior citizens, we strive to provide a positive and uplifting ministry. We conduct a very robust missions outreach addressing local needs as well as foreign needs.
