Every Christian, even those who can't carry a tune, are exhorted to "speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your hearts to the Lord" (Eph. 5:19). "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord," David said, hundreds of times in the Psalms. It is the way to come into the presence of God. It is the natural overflowing of a joyful heart. It is a way to minister to God.
To lead the congregation in worship and to minister through music, First United Methodist has three vocal choirs: the Chancel Choir (adults), Youth Choir (grades 6-12), and Childrens Choir (grades K-5). It also has a handbell choir.
In addition to regularly scheduled services, the choirs provide music for special occasions.
