What We’re All About
United
Methodist Youth Fellowship is a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to
making a difference in the lives of youth which enables them to make a
difference in their world by providing unique experiences through
fellowship, recreation, service, worship and study.
What We Do
We have developed a team of 5 youth leaders. Education,
Missions, Activities, Performing Arts, and Administration. We
are not meeting each week at the same time and place like the
traditional youth group. We have different activities going on
each week and we are off to a great start.
Missions: We
have been busy raising money for a mission trip to Savanna, Georgia
this summer in July. In February, we have the 30 hour Famine.
We are also doing monthly missions to help out locally.
Activities: We had a lot of fun for Christmas;
we had a progressive dinner and White Elephant gift exchange.
We are looking forward to Ice Skating and a winter retreat in
January, followed by events like movie night, game night (putt, putt
golf or something like that) lock-in, and Elitch Gardens.
Education: We are starting a series in Sunday
school called "The Gospel According to the Simpson's",
which is both fun and educational for the youth. We have had a
speaker talk to the youth and their parents about teens and drugs.
In January, we have college students coming to talk about college
life and what to do to prepare for college.
Performing Arts: We have a great group, United
Methodist Performer (UMPS); they use different forms of art to share
the word, including puppets, liturgical dance, creative movement,
sign language and skits. They perform at church events and
abroad. They had a Christmas performance at the Outlet Mall
and had a lot of fun. We also have a Youth Band; they are
composed of a wide variety of musical talents and are always looking
for more talent to join them.
