About
Keith Urban, Webmaster
Before moving
to the Bay area, Keith Urban was a member of the Design
Technology team at the New York
Times in New York City, where he created their first
Newsroom Intranet. He was also a key member of the team
that introduced color to the pages of the Times, and he
consulted and taught computer graphics for People
and Sports Illustrated
Magazines, and at Parsons School of Design.
Currently Keith
is a consultant and teacher specializing in demystifying
technology and making it easy and useful for the
average person. He teaches a wide range of computer subjects,
including using digital cameras, scanning, and enhancing
photos, as well as business applications such as Microsoft
Office. He also teaches QuarkXPress, Photoshop, Illustrator,
and Acrobat, and multimedia software such as Apple's iLife
suite (GarageBand, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD), and Final Cut
Express, and DVD Studio Pro.
Keith also teaches
modern dance, dance improvisation,
and choreography at Stanford
University. A celebrated dancer, choreographer and
teacher, he was a founding member of Toronto Dance Theatre,
and Assistant Professor and Chair of the Dance Department
at York University, Toronto. His own award winning dance
company, Urban and Formolo Dance, was the first Canadian-based
troupe to perform and teach in the People's Republic of
China.
Keith teaches
an enjoyable movement class, the
Joy of Movement, for the general public (no previous
experience necessary!), through Stanford's
Continuing Studies Program, and also an ongoing
class each week in Mountain View.
