Opportunities to Serve

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry .

The members of Campbell United Methodist Church are the saints who do the work of ministry .   We encourage you to consider how you might serve your church in the upcoming year.   If you feel called to serve in one of the areas listed below, please call Claudia Slayman at (408) 378-3472 x 23.   Here are some church activities that can use your gifts.

Ushers – Ushers are crucial to our Sunday Worship services and other special services.   A number of dedicated people already serve in this ministry but it is good to have many trained to help with our 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. services.   You will be trained by the head ushers.

Hospitality Team – We are in need of a few people who could be on call to help provide hospitality for different church functions. ( See below) These are great opportunities for persons with gifts of hospitality and compassion.

Memorial Service hostess – Serving as a hostess for memorial service receptions is a vital ministry for our church, and can bring real comfort to those who are celebrating the lives of loved ones.

Events Host or Hostess –This person greets and facilitates the needs of outside groups that are on our campus for a special event, including unlocking doors and re-locking doors following the event.

Food Service Helpers and Coordinators – If you like to help provide lovely meals and receptions for events (Church potlucks, concert receptions, etc.) you may like to share your gifts in Food Service Ministry.

Sunday Coffee Hour hosts – We need a list of people to help prepare and host the Coffee Fellowship Time following both the 9 and the 10:30 worship services Sundays.

Sanctuary and Chapel Stewards – It takes a number of people to help make our Sunday morning services “happen”.   These folk perform unseen tasks such as tending pew pockets and racks, filling candles, tending the “Quiet Room” and the balcony, refilling attendance pads, and more.

Sunday Morning Parking Lot Greeters – Welcome newcomers in the parking lot, answer their questions, and help direct them to the right place on campus.   Sign up for one Sunday a month.

Audio/Tape Ministry – Make copies of tapes for distribution to the congregation and shut-ins.

Office Helpers – Help with copying, mailings, answering phones, and other tasks.   We need a list of helpers we can call on to give us a hand.

Greeters – These are the friendly folk at the church doors who greet you and answer your questions when you come to worship at Campbell United Methodist Church.   Most people say that they return to church because of the warmth and friendliness that they feel when they arrive.
