Campbell
United Methodist Church
As followers of the way of the God of love,
Campbell United Methodist Church is
'Vibrantly Alive for Christ and the World.'
Welcome
to Campbell UMC web site, a place that will hopefully help
you, if you are looking for a church home. At Campbell UMC
you will find great opportunities for worship, fellowship,
service, and personal growth.
The
people of the church are Christians, people worshipping
together and working together. There are approximately
eight hundred who are members, but hundreds more are part
of the church ministries. The people of the church come
from all walks of life, with ages ranging from newborn to
people in their nineties.
This church began in
the city of Campbell in 1888 with the first structure built
on the banks of Los Gatos Creek. Following a flood
in 1911, which weakened the building, the church was rebuilt
in downtown Campbell, and then moved to the present site
in 1955 when the Fellowship Hall (originally the Sanctuary)
was constructed, followed by the Educational Building in
1957, and the (new) Sanctuary and Chapel in 1963.
In 1990, major renovations occured in the Sanctuary and
a new restroom facility was built. Construction in
2003 provided us with a three-story building that houses
Administration, Music, and Youth ministries, with landscaping
replacing the previous office space.
The Church has a long history of participation in
the life of Campbell and the larger San Jose area, and looks
forward to continuing this.
