Music Ministry

Music is a key component of life at Friendship UMC. Our music department is first and foremost, a ministry. We use music to praise God, share the gospel, and serve our church and community. Members of Friendship's choirs enjoy fellowship and fun with their fellow singers, and experience the unique fulfillment that comes from making great music together.

With four vocal ensembles plus a handbell choir, we have a place for singers of all ages and experience levels! Come out and join Friendship's Music Ministry. All you need is a desire to participate and the time in your schedule. If you have questions regarding how you or a family member can be involved in the choir program at FUMC, please contact Bonnie Dean, Secretary of Friendship UMC by calling the church office at (410) 257-7133.

Friensdship United Methodist Church (FUMC) in Friendship will be presenting their annual Christmas Cantata performed by the FUMC Sanctuary and a 13 piece chamber orchestra. The program this year is "The Mystery and Majesty" by Joseph M. Martin. Please join us on Sunday, December 20 at 4:00 PM for this special afternoon of music.

FUMC is located at 22 Friendship Road in Friendship Maryland, at the corner of Route 2 and Friendship Road.

The Sanctuary Choir is under the direction of Mr. Timothy Smith. Timothy is a gifted conductor currently studying with Dr. Thea Kano. Timothy is also the Music Team and Worship Team Leader at Community United Methodist Church in Crofton Maryland. Tim has performed with travelling groups in Michigan including Canata Academy and New Perspective. Travelling to Europe and locally to sing. Tim has been directing the choir at FUMC for 2 1/2 years. Prior to that, Timothy served many other churches prior to moving to Maryland.

The orchestra is comprised of local musicians many from the University of Maryland.

This program is filled with familiar carols and original works for Advent and Christmas. It is an excellent way to settle our hearts and prepare for Christmas as we focus on the true meaning of this special season.
