Free Union UM Church is an informal, family-friendly community church in the heart of Liberty Township. The 156 year old building is still heated by a wood fired stove in the colder months, making for a warm and friendly atmosphere which lasts all year. Vienna UM Church is located in a rural setting in Great Meadows and  recently celebrated 200 years of worship in the community. The Vienna UM Church Community Center is located in the heart of Vienna and provides  a food pantry.

Regular activities:

Sunday May 26th  2013

9.30am Worship & Sunday School at Free Union UM Church

Following Pastor Jim's sharing time  (Pockets story " The Sibling Fixer") with the children in the church they will leave for their time of worship in the community center. We shall be reading the story of "The Poppy Lady", which is the story of Moina Belle Michael and her tribute to veterans in honor of Memorial Day.  Following our story we shall have our  prayer. Following this the children will have a chance to make poppies. The children will also be practising their bell piece with Miss Alison.

Games & playdough will be available after the children have finished their activities.

Kudos!  Terracycle update-

Hello All:

As some of you are aware, our church recently began to be part of the Terracycle fundraising program.  With just our small beginning, we have diverted 2,473 pieces of waste from the landfill.   We stacked the boxes and they reached over 6 feet! This is a wonderful stewardship program also helps earn a little money for the church.  We were able to make our minimum for the year, and the church should receive a check in July.

So... Thanks to all!  Keep those items coming and we will start up again for the next cycle.  Simply bring your items to the church sorting station in the front.  You may find flyers there that may be easily posted at home to remind you what we can collect.  In addition, to what is on the form, we may now collect - Deodorant sticks, Mouthwash containers, and corks. To find out more about Terracycle go to www.terracycle.com.

If you would like us to email you a fridge grid directly, please email Matt at deskgremlin@gmail.com.

Sincerely,
Melissa and Matt Browns

Offering envelopes are available at the back of the church for your giving.

Hope in the Hills of Warren

Hope in the Hills of Warren recently became a  "Community Extension of Habitat for Humanity"  and was initially formed by a group of  volunteers from various churches and community organizations that was created to allow youth and adult volunteers to complete minor home repairs for homeowners within our community. These repairs might be in the form of construction of wheelchair ramps, repair/replacing porches, interior/exterior painting, drywall repairs, mobile home underpinning, etc.  Typically, the work is performed on the homes of elderly, low-income, and disabled folks; with all the work completed at no cost to the homeowner.

Mission Statement: Our mission, as volunteers from different Christian denominations, is to provide an opportunity to improve our community by sharing our love and skills.

Food Pantry

Our food pantry is located in the Vienna Community Center. The food pantry is desperately in need of cereals, tissues, toilet paper and paper productions in general as they are not covered by food stamps. If you can help Sharon with our food pantry at anytime I know she will be very grateful for your help.

Paper Products and Protein oh my!

Two items that are in need of replenishment are:

Protein:  Peanut Butter/Nut Butter and Canned Meat (remember Mayonnaise to go with Tuna (we have plenty of tuna at this time) or Chicken:)

Paper Products:  Toilet Paper, Facial Tissue, Feminine Hygiene products, perhaps even some reusable cloths or sponges?

Items such of these or others you might offer, may also be brought to church any Sunday and given to Pastor Jim.

For food distributions or to offer donations or help, please contact Pastor Jim Craig on 908 637 4340.

The Free Union Historical Projects
