In Sunday School, we are planting the seeds of faith in
children's hearts and minds as we explore the Bible and life.
What do children need in order to learn about God's love?
They need:
 | To feel love and a sense of of self-worth |
 | Caring adults who model Christian attitudes and
behaviors |
 | To actively learn and respond to Bible verses and Bible
stories |
 | To experience the love of Jesus and God |
Sunday School is from 10:15 to 11:00 a.m.. Children
in pre-school through 4th grade first stop in the Bible station upstairs in
the education wing. Here they locate the Bible verse for the lesson.
Children are assisted by our morning monitor, Janet Bush. The children
then go to their appropriate-aged Sunday School classes.
The following are teachers for each class:
|
Pre-school & Kindergarten |
Mrs. Mary Ellen Simmons |
|
1st & 2nd Grades |
Mrs. Sarah Richardson |
|
3rd & 4th Grades |
Mrs. Kim Searcy |
|
5th Grade |
Dr. Andrew Coates |
Classroom teachers use Cokesbury Curriculum called
"Exploring Faith". The spring quarter themes are:
Unit 1: Remembering Jesus (Lent)
Unit 2: Easter
Unit 3: People of Faith (New Testament)
Each quarter, parents receive a Sunday School newsletter
with reviews of the themes and helpful articles to nurture their child's
faith. |
