Worship Themes for November
November 1st
All Saints Sunday Don’t
forget to set your clocks back! Our
fall campaign theme continues: “Generation
to Generation: Bound Together in God’s Love and
Mission
”. We will hear testimonies
from the saints in all of our generations on the gifts of our connectional
church and the missions in which we join together with United Methodists
worldwide. We will remember all
those saints from our congregation for whom services of death and resurrection
were held since last All Saints Day. Please
read: Isaiah 25:6-9; Psalm 24;
Revelation 21:1-6a; and John 11:32-44. Communion
will be served at the rail.
November 8th
Our fourth Sunday in the “Generation to Generation” series lifts
up the ministry of our common worship life.
What a gift it is to gather together in worship each week, to lift up our
voices in prayer and praise, and to feel God’s holy presence surrounding and
filling us! Please read Ruth 3:1-5;
4:13-17; Psalms 127, 42; Hebrews 9:24-28; and Mark 12:38-44.
All the generations will give their perspective on worship.
November 15th
Ingathering Sunday A time
of prayer and dedication will be taken at each service to distribute and fill
out our Estimate of Giving cards for all those who feel called to support the
ministries and mission of the congregation in the coming year, from every
generation. We’ll focus on Hannah
and her song; singing a theme of “great reversal”, of triumph and
thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness to all generations; and John Wesley’s
hymns. Read I Samuel 1:4-20;
I Sam 2:1-10; and Hebrews 10: 11-14-18.
November 22nd
Youth Sunday / Reign of Christ Sunday/ Thanksgiving Sunday.
Our Senior High class under the leadership of Lee Wray and Becky Scott
will lead the 10:30 service. Please
read: 2 Samuel 23:1-7; Psalm
132:1-12; Revelation 1:4b-8; and John 18:33-37.
November
29th First Sunday of Advent.
We begin the season of Advent: a time of waiting, of expectation, and of
hope for the salvation of all the world. Please
read Jeremiah 33:14-16; Psalm 25:1-10; 1 Thessalonians 3:9-13; and Luke
21:25-36. The Service for the
Hanging of the Greens will invite us into the deeper meaning of the greenery we
all enjoy this time of year.
