“Generation to Generation: Bound Together in God’s Love and Hasn’t it been fun hearing from the four generations: Millennials, Generation X, Baby Boomers and Traditionalists? We are so blessed as a congregation to have such strong and articulate representatives from each of these cohorts! Our common life is rich and strong because of the many and diverse threads of our intergenerational tapestry. Our fall Campaign will wind up on November 15th, “Ingathering Sunday”. On that day, estimate of giving cards will be made available during both services so that individuals and families may make a commitment to Christ and His ministries through our church for 2010. New this year: persons may elect to have their financial commitment paid through their credit card. Our thanks go to the Finance Committee, John Blocker, chair, for continually seeking out ways to open channels of giving for all the generations, and to the Stewardship Team:

Charge Conference followed by Church Council The Church Council meeting of November 30th will be held as a Charge Conference so that we may elect the officers for 2010 that we did not elect at the September 8th Charge Conference. We were so early in the schedule that our slate was not ready at that time. All members are welcome to come and vote; elections will be held early in the meeting. Rev. Darryl Barrow has authorized Pastor Marti to preside over this Special Charge Conference expressly for this purpose.
Confirmation Class Confirmation Class for 7th and 8th grades or older youth who have not been confirmed will be starting up after Thanksgiving. Please contact Pastor Marti for more information - 569-9156 or mswordshorrell@gmail.com.
Thank You Notes Olive Shoemaker and her family would like to say thank you to all who have prayed for her and her family, been a support to her, and called her, provided meals and the great luncheon after the memorial service. Your support and love are greatly appreciated. Dear Friends, Protestant Campus Ministry was able to raise some dough through our October 4th Uno Chicago Grill fundraiser thanks to your support. I know many of you helped to spread the word or went out for lunch or dinner on Sunday yourselves. In fact I saw some of you 1 of the 2 times I ate at the Fayetteville Uno that day. Thank you. We have not received the checks yet but are estimating a donation of over $350 from Uno in the next couple of weeks. We are grateful for your ongoing participation in our
shared ministry to students at Blessings, Dear Friends and
Congregation at FUMC, I want to thank you all for the wonderful parting gifts that my family and I received during my farewell reception at church. Please know that leaving was a difficult decision for me - and based solely on regenerating my skills on a true pipe organ. I'm already half-way through one of the Civil War books that you presented me and have already visited Barnes and Noble on numerous occasions to browse and to use the generous gift card. Tanya and I spent last week in Eastern Europe where we flew
from God bless you all for granting me and my family 4 years of wonderful worship, spirit filled Sundays and fellowship memories to last a lifetime. Sincerely,

Refreshments Many of you enjoy a cup
of coffee or tea after the service while catching up with news about other
church family members.
When You or Someone You Know Goes to the Hospital Do you know that the hospital does not let us know if someone is in the hospital? Due to the HIPPA laws, we will not be informed of your hospital stay, unless you list us as your place of worship. If you know ahead of time that you are having a hospital stay, please call the office and let us know the date and which hospital you will be in. This will make it much easier for the pastor to visit you. We would also like to add you to our prayer list. Being on our prayer list or having others pray for you is part of our ministry to serve in the name of Christ. Please let us know when you need these prayers and visits.
Altar Flowers Please sign up for altar
flowers. The cost is $20.00. You can take them home after the 10:30
service or pick them up the next day. The flower chart is on the bulletin
board by the church entrance in the Narthex. More than one person can sign
up on the same Sunday. |
