Music and Drama Ministry

 

              Music:

 

We offer a wide variety of opportunities to praise and worship the Lord through music and drama.  We have 4 choirs, 3 vocal and one chime.

 

*    Joyful Noise Choir-for children ages 4 through the end of 4th grade.  This choir rehearses on Sunday morning at 10:30.  They sing on the second Sunday of each month, during our Family Worship Service as well as on other holidays throughout the year.

 

*    Youth Choir-for youth in grades 5 through 12.  Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evening as part of our Youth Fellowship.  Meetings begin at 5:30.  This group also sings on the second Sunday of each month, as part of our Family Worship Service as well as on other holidays during the year.

 

*    Youth Chime Choir-same age group as the Youth Choir.  We play a 3 octave set of Malmark Choir Chimes.  Previous experience and/or the ability to read music are not required.

 

*    Chancel Choir-Adults.  Rehearsals are held at 7:00 PM on Thursday night in the choir room.  Chancel Choir sings every Sunday, except the second Sunday of the month.  They also sing for other holidays during the year including.  The Chancel Choir also presents one or two cantatas each year and all are welcome to participate.

 

                Drama:

 

                We are proud to have our very own drama group here at 1st UMC, First United Methodist Players

                (FUMP).  The group shares its talents on stage, as a part of the Worship Service and through various

                events it sponsors during the year.  This group is open to all adults who wish to perform.  No

                experience is necessary.  If you’re unsure of what your talent is, we will help you find it!!  Watch the

                bulletin and this site for meeting dates.

 

                Some of the events and performances FUMP has held in the past are listed below.

 

 

*    Dinner Theater-Full-length plays complete with delicious dinner.  Held annually in May.

 

*    Call to Worship-several times a year the FUMP group opens our service with a cappella voices.

 

*    Talent Show-sponsored by FUMP, open to all.  Held in February or March.

 

*    Church Christmas Bazaar-Late November

 

                The children of our Church School also perform a fully staged musical each Christmas.
