WHAT TIME ARE SERVICES AND WHAT TYPE OF WORSHIP IS OFFERED?

Sunday morning we gather from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM for a traditional worship service.  For months with five Sundays, additional praise music is included in the service on the 5th Sunday by our Lighthouse Worship Team.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT A TRADITIONAL SERVICE?

The traditional worship service at First United Methodist Church is centered on the worship of God. Strong Biblical teaching, hymns, special religious music, and real life stories facilitate this worship experience.

The teaching is centered on the Bible and provides practical applications to life's situations. The messages are inspirational and will encourage and challenge you in your relationship with God, family, and friends.

The style of music is a blend of traditional hymns, contemporary songs and the richness of meaningful worship music.  The times of worship and singing are led by the Adult Sanctuary Choir.  Accomplished musicians perform the music in a professional manner.

Scripture readings, prayer, and fellowship are also part of every service. The traditional service worship experience is not only intended to facilitate worship for you during the service time but also to inspire and prepare you in your daily worship throughout the coming week. This service is attended by people of all ages. Most attendees dress in business attire. However, more casual attire particularly in the warm summer months is also quite common.

IS CHILDCARE AVAILABLE?

Yes, we offer safe and fun childcare by responsible church members in our Noah’s Landing Nursery.  Cribs are available for infants as well as games and toys for small children.

IS WORSHIP FAMILY-FRIENDLY?

Absolutely, we welcome worshipers of all ages!  For children who wish to stay with their parents during the first part of worship, special children’s bulletins and bags are available with fun activities.

Young worshipers are invited to join the pastor up front for the Children’s Message.  Then, just after the Children’s Message they are invited to attend our Children’s Worship for kid-friendly Bible activities while the adults listen to the sermon.

WHAT TIME IS SUNDAY SCHOOL?

After Sunday morning worship, we offer Sunday School classes for all ages from 10:15 AM to 11:15 AM.  Adult classes, both lecture style and interactive Bible study, are available.  Children and Youth Bible-based classes are offered as well as nursery for our smallest worshipers.

WHAT IS THE LIGHTHOUSE WORSHIP TEAM?

The Lighthouse Worship Team is a group of talented individuals who lead the congregation in praise & worship music.  The group offers vocal and instrumental music as well as inspirational readings and prayers.  Piano, acoustic and electric guitars, drums and other instruments are used.  Many times our Lighthouse Worship Team performs when there is a 5th Sunday in the month or on special occasions.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Anything you like!  We’re more concerned with meeting your real life needs than what you wear.  Dress usually ranges from casual to suits and ties.  All are welcome!

DO YOU OFFER A HEALTH MINISTRY?

We care about your physical self as well as your spiritual self.  Our health ministry offers opportunities throughout the year for blood pressure checks before and after Sunday services as well as health screenings.  Watch for upcoming dates in the weekly bulletins and monthly newsletters.

In case of emergency, an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) is located on the wall of the Adult Sunday School Area near the Welcome Center and Lobby doors.  They are on the same level as our sanctuary.

Hearing assistance devices are available upon request.  See the greeter at the entrance to the sanctuary.
