Rev.
Curtis D. Brown
The
Rev. Curtis Brown is an ordained pastor in the United Methodist Church, and has
been serving as the Associate Pastor of First United Methodist in Westborough,
Massachusetts since 1996. He is a
graduate of the University of Evansville, Indiana and of Boston University
School of Theology. He was ordained a
probationary deacon in the order of elder by the New England Conference in
1998.
Curtis was born in Anchorage, Alaska where his father was
serving in the U.S. Air Force. Along
with his parents, Curtis and his older brother moved quite often throughout the
United States and abroad, including: North Carolina, Mississippi, Texas,
California, New York, Spain, and Illinois.
Curtis completed high school in Belleville, Illinois, where his father
retired and entered in the United Methodist ministry. Curtis’ father, Dan, is now in his third career at Franmar
Industries in Bloomington, Illinois.
Curtis’ mother, Pat, just completed her master’s degree and has begun
her practice in psychology, and they make their home in Weldon, Illinois. Curtis’ brother, Richard, lives in
Bloomington, Wisconsin along with his wife and four children.
While in seminary at Boston University, Curtis met and
married his wife, Meredith Manning Brown.
Meredith is also an ordained pastor and is currently serving at
Wellspring United Methodist Church in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. They have two children. Their oldest, Gabriel, was born three months
prematurely in 1998 and died about a month later. Their youngest, Joy, was born in July 2002 and is not yet one
year old. Joy is quite a handful, and
Curtis and Meredith are thrilled to be her parents.
Curtis is involved in community, ecumenical, and United
Methodist Conference activities, and is currently chairing the New England
Conference New Church Starts committee.
In his free time, Curtis enjoys reading, bicycling, learning to play the
guitar, and teaching Joy to roar like a dinosaur.
